Perfect Winter Getaway

Reviewed on 2025-01-07 by Nathan Baldauff , Houston, TX United States

This home lacked nothing. The kids had their own retreat in the basement level, leaving the upstairs for the two sets of parents. The yard was the perfect size for fun in the snow. The kitchen had everything (functional nonstick pans, sharp knives, every appliance possible, Thermador appliances, woodburning stove). The downstairs bedrooms have 3 beds in one room and 4 in another, making it possible to separate the boys from the girls The attention to detail by the architect was impeccable - the lights were all in line, the molding all perfectly the same height and size, color choices well done. There were four different places to make a fire: the garage, kitchen, living-room and the fire-pit outside. Honestly the best rental house I've been to so far.

Loved everything about this home. We were 2 families dropping our boys off at MSU. Nice bedrooms for the adults and great rooms for the kids too. Location was walking distance to both downtown and the campus. We were very comfortable during our 3 night stay. Will be back!

Perfect house for a multigenerational family stay.

This house was beautiful. It was perfectly decorated and clearly had experts preserve the historic nature of the house while decorating in a modern way. The kitchen was well stocked and easy for cooking some large meals. We had a great time. Thank you so much! Our only suggestion would be to add some full length mirrors in the bedrooms.

Manager's Response

Hi Lisa - You are right about the renovation. The owner is a talented architect who knew how to keep the amazing details originally built in, as they turned it into a hip, modern home. And thank you for the mirror suggestion...I will pass it along to the owners! - MH Staff

Awesome stay over Thanksgiving in the Spruce House. Easily and comfortably accommodated our Family of 11. Great wood stove in the kitchen area and fireplace in the living area on one big main floor. Record player was fun to use with a broad selections of albums to play. Kitchen had everything we needed for our Thanksgiving meal for all 11. Walking distance to downtown shopping, bars, brewers and restaurants. Easy parking and access to main streets. Loved our stay

Manager's Response

Hi Don - And it makes us happy that you loved your stay! isn't that record player fun? And I also love the kitchen/breakfast nook fireplace. We hope that you will come stay again sometime! - MH Staff

We had a great time at the Spruce House. Loved the location...a short drive to pick up our MSU student and close to fantastic skiing and outdoor activities. The size of the house is awesome, lots of room to spread out. Our only problem was with the Nest thermostat. It kept resetting to 50 or 60...made for some chilly times in the house waiting for it to warm up again.

Manager's Response

Julie, thank you for the review! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay! We will take a look at the Nest thermostat, it is a newer function of the home so sometimes other guests can accidentally create schedules. Thank you for letting us know. We hope to see you back again very soon! -Krista/Mountain Home Team

We arrived, immediate and extended family in tow, for our son's destination wedding in Bozeman, having planned everything--including our lodging--sight unseen. Of course we had seen Bozeman Spruce house on the website, and thought it lovely and spacious, but it turns out the photos do not do it justice. First, this place was ROOMY! We had 8 people staying together in the house, and it never once felt crowded, or like anyone lacked privacy. The two master bedrooms on the main floor, the two big bedrooms downstair with the many beds, the airy and stylish living room, and especially the big, cozy kitchen made everyone feel like we were living "The Big Chill" weekend with old friends. Even the stereo contributed the soundtrack! The favorite spot was definitely the huge built-in dining area in the kitchen. While Big Sky country beckoned us tourists to the great outdoors, we were loathe to leave the comforts of this house. This place could be in a magazine because of its spare and elegant, yet comfortable, style. I even left with ideas I wanted to use in my own house! Mountain Home Vacation Rentals were especially accommodating with our arrival and departure times, and everything was in order upon our arrival. They made it all easy peasy. Our son and his wife are thinking of moving to Bozeman, and should that happen, Bozeman Spruce House is first on our list when we need a place to stay, especially with a big group. Thanks for a wonderful and memorable experience.

Manager's Response

Laureen and Michael, we appreciate the kind words that you have passed along about your experience at Bozeman Spruce House! We look forward to having you back someday in the future! -MH Team

We made Spruce House our base for an extended stay and could not have been happier. It is a perfect location, walkable to Main Street and all the other activities such as the Sweet Pea Festival and markets at Lindley Park. We rode our bikes up the nearby Galligator Trail to Peet's Hill in the evenings to watch the sunset and go out for ice cream, then to MSU for an internship during the days. The street itself has some of the nicest homes in the downtown area. Spruce House is bright and open, with various areas and seating that are perfect for enjoying everything from morning coffee to big family dinners at night in a style is simple and chic. The kitchen has outstanding appliances, with a great stove, oven, fridge and supplies for those who love to cook. Each bedroom is comfortable, large and private to ensure a restful setting; the beds themselves were great for sleeping. Bathrooms had a nice design and functioned well. The house is set up to maximize gathering spaces while also ensuring privacy when desired. We enjoyed the back porch and patio for cocktails and a late night fire. The entertainment areas downstairs were fun for ping pong and offered a separate area for kids to hang out. Although I definitely would like to rent this house again, I would actually prefer to move right in.

Manager's Response

Cindy, thank you for the review! Although, I don't think the owner would be willing to sell...we are happy to know you enjoyed your long term stay! Bozeman Spruce is one of a kind! We hope that even with the bad news of not being able to move in, that we will see you again very soon! :) -Krista/Mountain Home Team
