There are endless opportunities to explore the mountain ranges surrounding Bozeman. Below are a few of our staff's favorite hikes! Always make sure to plan ahead, check the weather and carry a bear spray when venturing the trails.
The M Trail - Moderate
The M was created by students at the University of Montana in 1915. It is Bozeman's most well known hike and a "must-do" while in town. There are two options a steep trail and a less steep trail. The full loop is just over 1.5 miles.
Fairy Lake - Easy
This stunning alpine lake can be driven to and then you can hike over a 1 mile around the permiter of the lake. Many travelers bring paddleboard, inner tubes and kayaks to explore the lake with.
Palisade Falls - Easy
Palisade Falls is located in Hyalite Recreation Area, which is a beautiful drive that passes Hyalite Resevoir. The trail is mostly paved which makes it very accessible for most groups!
Sacagawea Peak Trail - Difficult
This trail begins at the Fairy Lake parking lot and gains 2,000 ft over 2 miles to reach the peak. The views are incredible after this strenuous hike. Make sure to take your time and bring lots of water!
